Wyoming Majority Statement on the Passing of Former Rep. Tom Lockhart
Remembered as an excellent legislator who brought common-sense, business savvy and thoughtfulness to the legislature.

Cheyenne, Wyo. - Speaker of the House Steve Harshman and President of the Senate Eli Bebout released the following statement on the passing of former Casper Republican representative Tom Lockhart:

“Tom was a dedicated Casper guy, through and through,” said Speaker Steve Harshman. “I had the privilege to serve in the House with Tom and knew him and Lynn for years before we were elected to the Wyoming legislature. He was a patriot and an Army veteran who was always an advocate for our community and our state. His knowledge of the issues and dedication to doing the job right was central to his work and his leadership. He was a champion of responsible mineral development and a forward-thinking leader in our state’s pursuit of economic diversification and responsible savings. Casper will miss him and so will I.”

“We are keeping Tom’s wife, Lynn, as well as their four children and grandchildren in our thoughts and prayers today and will continue to do so in the days ahead,” said Senate President Eli Bebout. “Tom Lockhart was an excellent legislator. He was a deep thinker who was dedicated to his family, the city of Casper and the state of Wyoming. I had the opportunity to co-chair the joint minerals committee with Tom and was always struck by his ability to cut to the heart of the issue. Tom was a no-nonsense businessman who brought common-sense and thoughtfulness to the legislature. We will work to continue his legacy of conservatism and commitment to improving opportunities for all Wyoming people. ”
